Did You Know?
Of all the plastic produced worldwide every year, 10% winds up in the ocean, with 70% finding its way to the ocean floor. There it will likely never degrade, leaving every square mile of ocean containing approximately 46,000 pieces of plastic.
An estimated 1,500 plastic bottles end up as waste in landfills or thrown in the ocean every second, with a huge portion of these being plastic baby bottles.
Scary stuff, right?! That's not even touching on the hundreds of chemicals used to create these bottles, which are also not microwave or heat-safe. We have all heard of BPA-free, but most people do not realise that many plastics (including those that are BPA-free) contain other chemical plasticisers. Unfortunately, many plasticisers are also endocrine disruptors similar to BPA, which means they may cause many of the same health issues. Some plasticisers may even be more dangerous to our children than BPA.
